I am thrilled to share my experience with and to highly recommend Celeste. I first met Celeste in the fall of 2023 when we were seeking a reading specialist to work with two of my three children. We were paired with her and she was able to accommodate our dynamic family needs and schedule. Celeste was able to assess where we were beginning with each of our children and how to best progress forward. She had a variety of activities planned to swap between to keep lessons fun and engaging. Our eleven-year-old daughter is on the Autism spectrum and Celeste was able to adjust her techniques to accommodate our daughter’s needs. She was able to help our daughter gain confidence in overcoming some struggles she faced with reading. We were thrilled to have someone to work with who understood a neurodiverse mind and was willing to accommodate teaching methods to best suit our daughter’s learning needs. One thing Celeste did that was particularly appreciated was giving my daughter firm boundaries, in a gentle way. Both Celeste and my daughter knew the time limit of the lessons and the expectations for progress. My daughter tried to push back more than a few times and Celeste was patient, shifting her lesson as needed for my kiddo’s attention span and needs. Celeste was usually able to reengage my daughter for the lesson and to switch activities to still make forward progress towards our reading goals. It was rare, but she was always willing to ask me for assistance to refocus and finish a lesson. I am grateful for her patient, dynamic approach to assisting my daughter. Working with our nine-year-old son virtually is no small feat. On one occasion, I had stepped out of the room to grab something, only to return to him telling me he was playing hide-and-go-seek with Celeste. He had hidden the iPad under a blanket on the bed. After finding it, we had a good laugh and then was able to progress with the lesson. This playful dynamic shows how much she really was able to roll with every situation, no matter what my children sent her way. Celeste always came with a cheerful attitude and patient demeanor. When our son seemed to be getting towards the end of his learning threshold, she would finish up with a game or two as well as find books for me to work with him on outside of our sessions. By the end of our time together, we discovered through an outside evaluation that our son needed some additional eye therapy to support his reading progress. Celeste was able to do his final evaluation of their progress, showing his improvement based on their time together. We are eternally grateful for Celeste. She has a passion to work with children, supporting each where they are at. Her instinct is spot on for knowing when a child is off their usual rhythm and she does not hesitate to adjust her lessons to meet the individual where they are at. It has truly been a pleasure to have had her work with our children and be a teammate with us as we are all working to support them. It is my honor to recommend Celeste to you.
